New Cybersecurity System For Uae

EADS has won a contract with its joint venture partner to supply its Ectocryp cryptographic product for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) armed forces command-and-control system, said Hervé Guillou, head of cybersecurity at the Cassidian defense and security division.

Under the contract, Emiraje Systems, the local joint venture partner, will act as large systems integrator, Guillou told journalists at the Defense & Security Equipment International show, which opened Sept. 13.

The UAE will become the first user and operator of the Ectocryp technology outside of NATO, Guillou said.

EADS created the cybersecurity unit Aug. 1 to develop the business on a global basis, Guillou said.

Cassidian expects to win sales in the U.S. market following a two-year evaluation and demonstration of the Ectocryp product in June in the annual Coalition Warrior Interoperability Demonstration.

Cassidian also has made proposals on cybersecurity work under the Anglo-French defense cooperation treaty at the request of the French Direction Générale de l'Armement procurement office, Guillou said.
