Germany Deliver Air-Defense Radar to Israel

Germany recently delivered a Patriot air defense radar to Israel as a cost-free loaner pending conclusion of a three- to four-year refurbishment in the United States of Israel's own AN/MPQ-53 radars for its PAC-2 force.German, U.S. and Israeli sources confirmed the trilateral cooperation, aimed at filling potential gaps in Israeli air defense coverage while Israel Air Force radars are being serviced at Fort Sill, Okla.

Raytheon 300th APG-79 AESA Radar

Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) recently delivered its 300th active electronically scanned array APG-79 radar to Boeing for integration on the U.S. Navy's F/A-18E/F Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler, including 24 AESA systems delivered to the Royal Australian Air Force for the F/A-18 Super Hornet.

Korea Navy Sign Contract of Raytheon Phalanx

Raytheon has signed a $65.5 million contract to deliver five Phalanx Block 1B Close-In Weapon Systems to the Republic of Korea Navy for the new Ulsan-1 class FFX ship program.

The direct commercial sale calls for the systems to be installed on the 2,300-ton frigate-class ships starting in April 2013, and represents Phalanx's largest sale to the ROK fleet.

"Phalanx is uniquely suited for the littoral environment in which the Korean fleet operates," said Rick Nelson, vice president of Raytheon Missile Systems' Naval Weapon Systems product line.

EUROFIGHTER AND EURORADAR WILL PRODUCE NEXT GENERATION RADAR

Eurofighter GmbH and Euroradar, together with their industrial partners, have begun full scale development of a latest generation Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar. The target in-service date for the new radar is 2015 to meet the requirements of Eurofighter Partner Nations and export customers.

PAKISTAN WILL BUILD RADAR FOR JF-17 THUNDER

 

The chief of staff of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has told Jane's that Pakistan has built its first facility to manufacture radars for fighter aircraft.

Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman said the indigenously produced radar, built with China's assistance at the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC), in Kamra, north of Islamabad, would equip the JF-17 'Thunder' fighter aircraft jointly produced by the two countries.
